What happened with us in 2 months? We picked up guitar, got a few more stamps in our passports, rowed in the dragon boat races, celebrated our two year anniversary, celebrated Ben’s birthday, went above Singapore in the highest ferris wheel in the world, visited the Singaporean President’s house, Heather found a job, and we made new friends!
Let's go back to the beginning of March. We celebrated our 2 year anniversary in Bali which was absolutely Heaven on Earth! The beach was perfect (excellent waves for body surfing, perfect temperature, and nice white sand!)! We spent 5 nights at the Nikko Bali Resort in Nusa Dua, Bali, Indonesia. We got the honeymoon package as stated in a previous post. This included a couples massage, free daily buffet breakfast, and a candlelight dinner. Our trip was highlighted with a camel ride, 18 holes of golf at Bali Golf and Country Club, a professional photo shoot, and not just one candlelight dinner but a moonlight dinner on our anniversary! The food was excellent and the Bintang was cheap. We enjoyed eating at the swim up bar for lunch while sipping on the local brew. We even ventured off to the market called Bali Collection where we haggled for some souvenirs. The past two years of our marriage have been such a blessing and it was even more of a blessing that we were able to celebrate it in such a beautiful place! We will definitely go back to Bali! Here are some pictures from our trip!
We decided to pick up guitar together, which has been so much fun! We are learning on youtube of all places. We even started a band called Garbesta….well not yet. Heather had a dream that we should name it Garbesta if we ever started one. Our fingers quickly grew calluses and we are picking up the chords quick! One day we might be able to replace some of the acts here at acoustic night!
We celebrated Ben’s birthday in Bintan, Indonesia for the weekend. We took a ferry over to the island, which is about 55 minutes from Singapore. He played golf at the Jack Nicklaus Sea View course while dodging the many monitor lizards roaming around.
It was a nice getaway for a weekend, but we weren’t as impressed as we were with Bali! The accommodations and food were over priced and we didn’t get the “sea view” room we had hoped for. Better luck next time! Nevertheless we had a great time relaxing on the beach and spending time together.
We rode the Singapore Flyer, which is the world’s tallest ferris wheel, one afternoon for free, thanks to SingTel! It takes 30 minutes to complete the trip so we were able to take some great photos!
On Labor Day here in Singapore, the President opened his house and property up to the public. After passing through the thermal scans to make sure we didn’t have “swine flu” we made the treck up the long hill beside his private golf course to the most expensive government housing on the island. It was filled with many luxurious gifts from surrounding countries and we were surprised to find that none of them were from the USA.
Heather recently took a job with a cultural events start up company as the Event Coordinator/Intern Manager. The job will no doubt provide a lot of experience and challenges over the next few months! I will update you on the progress of this new venture….
Now that my hands are about to fall off, and your eyes are probably crossing over, I will leave you with that until next time…which hopefully won’t be in another two months!
We can’t wait for family to come in June and July! Only a month away! We miss you and love you all!
Awesome!!!
